Visitors from Croatia and Serbia at BioCer in Bayreuth
At the beginning of December, we at BioCer had the pleasure of welcoming a special visitor: our partner Betamed from Croatia, as well as surgeons Vladimir Milosavljevic and Stojan Maric from the University Hospital ‘Bezanijska Kosa’ in Serbia, visited our headquarters in Bayreuth.
Insights into the surgical treatment of hiatus hernias
The reason for their visit was a highly exciting international exchange in the field of hernia surgery. In the morning, the two doctors had the opportunity to observe an operation on a hiatus hernia at Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH. Our product TiO2Mesh, an innovative mesh specially developed for surgical applications, was used in this procedure.
A hiatus hernia, also known as a diaphragmatic hernia, is a condition in which parts of the stomach shift through the diaphragm into the chest cavity. This can cause symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing or pain. The surgical treatment in which our TiO2Mesh was used is an important part of modern surgical methods. The mesh supports stabilisation of the diaphragm and promotes the healing process, while its special coating makes it biocompatible and durable.
Exchange and cooperation at BioCer
After the visit, our guests had the opportunity to get to know our company better. In addition to a tour of our production and research facilities, the focus was on exchanging ideas about new projects and future collaborations.
We would like to thank our guests for the inspiring discussions and the pleasant visit. Such international collaborations are a valuable opportunity to learn from each other and to advance medical care on a global level. We look forward to further joint projects with our partners from Croatia and Serbia!
